The Sword & Shield series welcomes you to the Galar region. In the series, Generation 8 Pokemon were introduced to the trading card game for the first time, as well as Pokemon V / VMAX. To coincide with the release of the Sword & Shield series, Fairy types were retired (Fairy Pokemon became Psychic types in the TCG) and Poison types were switched from Psychic typing to Darkness. During the Sword & Shield era, the Pokemon TCG saw a significant uptick in interest and consequently many SW&SH products were sold out on release and collectors had to deal with higher prices. By late 2021, the Pokemon company had announced reprints of some of the most popular sets in the series.
